Student Nuisance in Kralingen

Living together in Kralingen

Kralingen is a fantastic area to live, study and relax. Many people live close together in harmony here. Unfortunately, there is also a lot of nuisance, including loud music, shouting in the streets and gardens, litter and bikes or shared scooters blocking the pavement.

STOK, a residents’ initiative to reduce student nuisance was set up in 2021, and the Rotterdam municipality and various neighbourhood parties drew up a plan of action to address student nuisance. Residential nuisance is tackled using the ‘traffic light model’. The more nuisance a property causes, the more severe the measures. Did you know the APV states that it must be quiet after 22:00 and that there is a ban on alcohol on the streets in parts of the neighbourhood?

The municipal authorities made a special appeal to students. Read the letter ‘Keep calm & enjoy student life’ from June 2023. (See letter bottom of page)

It is important to report acute nuisance both to the police (via 0900-8844) and the municipal authorities (via woonoverlast@kralingen.nl, among others).

There is a student nuisance consultation hour once a month on Wednesdays from 15:00 to 17:00 at the Wijkhub, Slaak 14, Rotterdam. More information via: participatiekc@rotterdam.nl
